Hola fashionistas! The season is changing and with it come fashionable responsibilities. Even though we still have a few days or weeks until summer, it’s never too late to start refreshing your wardrobe with the latest trends. I, for one, love the rainy and cold seasons because I don’t have to carry a hand fan with me everywhere. However, as the temperature rises, we have to get prepared for whatever comes with it. So, join me as we discuss the top 10 summer 2024 fashion trends must-haves.

Spring was all about embracing nature’s wild forms and being in tune with it. Whenever I watch Korean movies made in spring, I usually look forward to their styles and they never disappoint. However, the season is changing and even nature knows it. As the days grow longer, the temperature rises and the heat crashes, leaving us with loose and lightweight layering to ensure we aren’t consumed by summer’s wild form.

For example, one thing I dislike about summer is that my sweat glands have a mind of their own. LOL. It’s really annoying because I wanna wear fancy, layered-up outfits. But I can’t (phew). So we just have to go with the flow and hope that this time around we’re well prepared for summer’s wiles.

This season brings bright colors, fun patterns, and new styles that will stand out. From runway looks to street fashion, here are the must-haves to keep you looking stylish all summer.

1. Bright Colors and Neon Hues

Summer 2024 fashion trends are all about bright and bold colors. Picture electric blues, fiery reds, and sunshine yellows. Neon shades are back, adding excitement to your wardrobe. Whether it’s a bright neon dress or a standout accessory, these colors will help you make a striking impression.

I was never one to wear bright, bold colors but I should probably step out of that zone. As the sun shines bright over summer, why not stand brighter with these trendy colors? Anyone who does it should please send a picture (pouts). The only thing I’m worried about about bright colors is that I live in Nigeria (lmao). Why? Well, because if you’re not a celebrity or influencer and you wear these colors, you can be sure to get all the attention. Both wanted and unwanted. So, if you’re a Nigerian, try to blend these colors with softer tones. And stay away from BLACK (lol).

2. Sheer fabrics and lightweight layers

Sheer fabrics are essential for summer, adding a light and elegant touch to any outfit. These sheer blouses and lightweight maxi dresses help you stay cool and stylish. You can layer sheer fabrics over solid pieces to make your outfit more interesting for both day and night.

I love reading books because then I have the chance to adore summer maxi dresses. Depending on the fabric, which should also be lightweight, they can be worn anywhere.

I just love a jumpsuit, especially in the summer. They are awesome. I know some of you may be thinking, “Why a jacket?” Well, just because it’s summer doesn’t stop the showers of rain. It’s like they have a mind of their own and so it’s always good to be prepared for anything.

Even though I do not like oversized sunglasses because they make my head look small (lol), I’d still recommend them. Fashion is all about creativity and summer is one of those times to get creative. Where I work is very hot, even before summer came, because it’s a factory and honestly, I’m just happy I’ve got some of these trends in my closet already. So, you know that verse in the Frozen movie ‘The cold doesn’t bother me anyway’, yeah, the heat version is my story. lol.

In Nigeria, we call these kinds of shorts three-quarters (lame if you ask me but meh). I am definitely stocking my wardrobe with these, especially suit shorts, because they’d be easy to style for work. For summer 2024 fashion trends, shorts are cool, edgy, and comfy. Everyone knows I prioritize comfort in fashion.

For example: Pair long suit shorts with a matching jacket or basic long-sleeve tee, or jorts with a crop top and kitten heels. In this way, we’re saying, ‘Let your legs breathe.’

If you are like me, who doesn’t like spaghetti sleeves, then you can go ahead with off-shoulders. Their tops can be paired with any kind of trousers or even skirts (yep, tried and trusted). Or you can opt for gowns, which are my favorites.

In conclusion, all I’m saying is to be creative this summer. Bring out your fashionista side. Go out, chill at the beach, and go to the farm (lol).
