Summer 2024 fashion trends are taking over our feeds, offering fresh inspiration from the streets and summer runways. Many of these trends are nostalgic, like peep boho’s triumphant comeback and the return of the statement belt. However, preppy style and sneaker trends also have a sporty undercurrent.
Emilia Petrarca, who writes the fashion newsletter “Shop Rat,” believes that if luxury goods prices remain high, the ‘quiet luxury’ trend will stick around for a bit longer. People want timeless elegance or luxury, not just boring minimalism. Crisp white and butter yellow will trend for the months ahead, along with sequins and basics like denim pants and white T-shirts.
On the accessories front, raffia is bigger than ever, while polished kitten heels and Mary Jane flats are popping up. These are the summer 2024 fashion trends our style editors are most excited to wear.
Athletic prep

Our favourite 2024 fashion trend is the resurgence of the preppy look. This one directly ties to Miu Miu’s series of wildly successful catwalk shows, which began a few years ago with that micro-mini pleated skirt and culminated in the Gossip Girl-inspired collection for spring. Our feeds are also flooded with modern takes on prep-school staples like button-down shirts, track jackets, and polo shirts. Meanwhile, Tennis Core is gaining popularity again thanks to Challengers and Zendaya’s athletic red carpet look. Dressing like a country club member has never been a better occasion.

Fringe, welcome back to the zeitgeist! Though the term “boho” may cause you to travel back to 2013 due to mental stress, fear not—the style has been updated for 2024 with fresh ideas on fringe, crochet, and flowy tops that look and feel better than ever. Springtime saw the adoption of the style by bohemian-inspired brands like Ralph Lauren, Ulla Johnson, and Chloé, and we believe its popularity will only increase as summer comes to a conclusion and fall approaches. As seen by Tod’s and Bottega Veneta, raffia looks fantastic paired with additional raffia, so don’t be afraid to layer it on.
Back to basics
Although it’s still running strong, stealth wealth will change slightly in the coming year. Simple (but glamorous) ensembles are trendy right now, with ’90s icons like Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy prominently featured on the mood board. “I think we are going to transition into a somewhat adjacent ’80s and ’90s look to quiet luxury,” says Jenny Walton, a writer for Jenny Sais Quoi, a weekly contributor to Vogue. “Restraint will grow increasingly appealing.” Get a head start on minimalism with workhorse staples like draped tank shirts, crisp jackets, high-waisted jeans, and thin loafers. Each piece has just enough flair to stand out without taking over.

And don’t fear; investing will only gain popularity as the second part of the year approaches.
