Hello, fashionistas!  We have gotten many wonderful, intense, and even inspiring movies to get a high from. Many of us hoped our favorite movies and actors would snag the Academy Award nominations. Honestly, I was too, and they announced the nominees for the Oscar Awards 2024 just yesterday. So let’s take a look at the 2024 Oscar Nominations: Academy Award Nominees.

2024 Oscar Nominations: Academy Award Nominees

When it comes to movies, I usually am all in for the styles and makeup. If you live in Nigeria and watch Yoruba movies, you’d understand the need for a breath of fresh fashion (lol, I’m not joking). Of course, Barbie was my favorite movie when it came to fashion because, well, I used to play with dolls when I was younger.

Anyway, the 2024 Oscar nominations have been something I have been looking forward to. Why? well, because I get to cheer on my favorite movies and actors. However, the Academy Award nominees list was a shocker when it came to some actors. This was because I thought some would snag a nomination for sure.

The 96th annual Academy Award opens its gates with Oppenheimer leading with 13 Oscar nominations followed closely by Poor Things having 11.

Let’s give a round of applause for this year’s Academy Award nominees (claps). Here is the full list;

2024 Oscar Nominations: Academy Awards Nominees

Although it came to me as a shock that everything everywhere all at once won the best picture last year. I wasn’t surprised by the list of this year’s nominees. When it comes to best picture, of course, we would have some of our favorite shows. I also got mine on there (lol). Barbie and Oppenheimer seemed to be my favorite. Oh, let’s not forget poor things. I should probably go watch these other movies to understand why they met the requirements for the best picture.

  • American Fiction
  • Anatomy of a Fall
  • Barbie
  • The Holdovers
  • Killers of the Flower Moon
  • Maestro
  • Oppenheimer
  • Past Lives
  • Poor Things
  • The Zone of Interest

2024 Oscar Nominations For The Best actor:

I felt relieved to find Cillian Murphy, my favorite movie actor from Oppenheimer, among the nominees. While Maestro appeared to be a solemn romance movie to me, there is no doubt that Bradley Cooper infused the film with his inner love for music. I would say this is a tough pick with Jeffrey Wright in the mix. I mean who doesn’t like to laugh while watching a movie?

  • Bradley Cooper – Maestro
  • Colman Domingo – Rustin
  • Paul Giamatti – The Holdovers
  • Cillian Murphy – Oppenheimer
  • Jeffrey Wright – American Fiction

2024 Oscar Nominations For Best Actress:

Remember when I said some of the nominees shocked me? Well, now it’s the lack thereof. I mean, where the heck is Margot Robbie? Why isn’t Barbie even involved? (Blows off steam) I won’t lie and say Emma Stone isn’t who I’m rooting for because they already slimmed my hopes. However, Carey Mulligan in Maestro is another best and safest bet (lol). I really should go watch these other movies because if they were able to snag an Oscar nomination, they may just be worth it, right? However, Gladstone won the Golden Globe for best actress in a motion picture (drama). Maybe we should just anticipate the winner (lol).

  • Annette Bening – Nyad
  • Lily Gladstone – Killers of the Flower Moon
  • Sandra Huller – Anatomy of a Fall
  • Carey Mulligan – Maestro
  • Emma Stone – Poor Things

2024 Oscar Nominations For Best supporting actress

I’ve got to say even though I loved America Ferrera’s lines in the movie, I wouldn’t put anything past Emily Blunt.

  • Emily Blunt – Oppenheimer
  • Danielle Brooks – The Color Purple
  • America Ferrera – Barbie
  • Jodie Foster – Nyad
  • Da’Vine Joy Randolph – The Holdovers

Best supporting actor

All the best supporting actor nominees seem to be fighting for the top spot. I can’t even place a bet on who I think is going to win. So, I guess we’ll just have to peel our eyes open.

  • Sterling K Brown – American Fiction
  • Robert De Niro – Killers of the Flower Moon
  • Robert Downey Jr – Oppenheimer
  • Ryan Gosling – Barbie
  • Mark Ruffalo – Poor Things

Best director

With all these movies keeping us on the edge of our seats, we’ve gotta give a round of applause to the directors. Even though they say the movie isn’t complete without the actors, the director guides the movie to life. However, I’d say my bets are on Oppenheimer, Poor Things, Anatomy of a Fall, and the zones of interest. What say you guys?

  • Anatomy of a Fall – Justine Triet
  • Killers of the Flower Moon – Martin Scorsese
  • Oppenheimer – Christopher Nolan
  • Poor Things – Yorgos Lanthimos
  • The Zone of Interest – Jonathan Glazer

  • Barbie
  • Killers of the Flower Moon
  • Napoleon
  • Oppenheimer
  • Poor Things

Best make-up and hairstyling

Though when it comes to fashion, make-up and hairstyling are key in the movie industry. However, I don’t really see any make-up or hairstyling needs being met in “Society of the Snow” though.

With Oppenheimer leading the way with 13 Oscar nominations, I wouldn’t be surprised if they also bagged the awards. Although, there are a few disappointed fans who thought some of their favorite celebs were definitely going to snag an Oscar nomination. I don’t blame them, I’m part of them (cries for Margot Robbie).

I am actually excited to see those who would win the Oscar awards. So join me on March 11, 2024, to uncover the winners of the 2024 Oscars.

Anyway, see you next time, fashionistas.

God bless you guys (wink)
