In this article, we will discuss some great ideas for that oh so difficult season of the year. I am talking about fall skincare
GET A HUMIDIFIER
If you have dry skin, a humidifier is going to be a game-changer for you. Sure you can keep applying creams and serums and hydrating mists throughout the day, but using a humidifier is going to tackle the real issue at hand–the dry air. A humidifier helps increase air hydration levels by adding moisture to your environment. When humidity is low, you can expect dryness, flaking, and cracking skin. If you’re always on the go or work at a desk, definitely get a portable humidifier too!
CHANGE YOUR CLEANSER
When the seasons change, it’s time to change your cleanser. Summer usually calls for a more powerful, purifying cleanser, but fall calls for a more gentle one. Look for something gentle, but doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight and dry. Some great options I’ve tried and love are below!
EXFOLIATE, FIRST
Think exfoliating is just for oily, summer skin? Think again. Gentle exfoliation is a must during the fall months because it helps rid your skin of its top layer (mostly dead skin cells!) Once you get rid of the dead skin, this allows your products to actually do their job! I like using a gentle cleansing brush like the Foreo since it isn’t harsh on the skin. You can also use an exfoliating peel pad like the Dr. Dennis Gross Ultra Gentle Daily Peel Pads, which help with tone and texture.
ADD A HYALURONIC SERUM
We all know to use a moisturizer, but you need to add a hyaluronic acid serum before your moisturizer in the fall months. Hyaluronic acid is seriously the best for alleviating dry skin since it binds itself to water in your cells resulting in a more hydrated, plump complexion. Trust me, you’ll be wondering why you haven’t jumped on the HA bandwagon sooner.
BRING ON THE HYDRATION
The extra dry weather calls for extra hydration, so bring on the hydrating face masks, face mists, lip balms, and body creams. You’re going to need it. For face masks, a great hydrating one is the Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Mask or the Fresh Black Tea Overnight Mask. If you’re like me, then your lips are always dry in the fall/winter. I always stock up on lip balms and keep them in every corner of my house, in my car, and in my purse! Some of my faves are Lucas Pawpaw Ointment or the La Mer Lip Balm if I’m feeling fancy.
