There were numerous takeaways from the Spring 2023 shows, but the most relevant came from the street style we saw throughout fashion month — specifically, the jacket and fall coat trends we spotted on fashionable showgoers in New York, London, Milan, and Paris. They mostly confirmed what we already knew: that nostalgic silhouettes (like varsity jackets, duffle coats, and “lady” jackets) are making a comeback, and that coziness is always appreciated (shearling coats, sockets, faux furs).
SHEARLING JACKETS
A shearling collared jacket gives the wearer an air of casual cool, and a full sheepskin coat gives the wearer the air of someone who knows what they’re doing. Wearing a sheepskin coat makes it challenging to avoid projecting a menacing aura.
VARSITY JACKETS FALL COAT
Men’s varsity jackets, also known as letterman jackets or baseball jackets, have evolved beyond their college origins to become stylish garments for all seasons. These jackets, which were once only fashioned of leather sleeves and boiled wool, are now offered in a variety of designs and fabrics.
DUFFEL COATS
