According to research, The basic rule of thumb is that you should choose your moisturizer based on your skin type. If you are oily or in combination, a lighter texture (think lotion) will be better. Or If you are dryer, you need more nourishment (think cream). In this article, I will discuss the various types of moisturizers and give you my picks for the best skin moisturizers.

Before you pay for any brand of cream, ensure you check out the ingredients. Look out for active ingredients that can bleach your skin. If you have any allergies, then you need to actively look out for ingredients that could cause an allergic reaction.

How can you identify your skin type?

If after 30 minutes your skin appears shiny throughout, you likely have oily skin; but if it feels tight and is flaky or scaly, you likely have dry skin; yet if the shine is only in your T-Zone, you probably have combination skin; and if your skin feels hydrated and comfortable, but not oily, you likely have normal skin.

Finally, my vote for the best moisturizer is Aloe Vera.

In addition to moisturizing the skin, aloe vera gel can ease or soothe conditions like frostbite and sunburn. Aloe vera gel can help your skin in hot and frigid weather. If your skin is damaged from a mild case of frostbite, aloe vera gel may help your tissues regrow more quickly and boost healing
