Hello Fashionistas of Africa and beyond. Okay, honestly I’m really sleepy right now, but I can’t seem to get this fashion style out of my head, so I thought, why not share it? Doing a lot of research, I have come to find a fashion discovery (lol, to me anyway). I always wondered what the dress style, where the Bubu gown is very long, loose-fitting around the body parts, is called.
The Bubu or Boubou style as some call it; is a flowing wide-sleeved robe worn by men and women. It can also be identified as a long, loose-fitting, brightly colored gown. The Bubu style is a traditional Senegalese robe worn across West Africa, and to a lesser extent in North Africa. Yeah, you read it right; this style is one of the oldest design trends that still gives off the modern, chic and comfortable aura you deserve.
The best thing about this fashion attire is that it can be styled and designed in any way, into any shape, or even with any fabric, desired.
1. Bubu Kaftan styles:
Ankara bubu Kaftan style
The Bubu Kaftan style is one of the most trendy styles in Bubu Fashion. Almost similar or even can be mistaken as a maxi dress, this style ensures loose edges around the body figure line, making it comfortable for any size to rock. This Bubu kaftan style can be designed with any fabric such as Ankara, Lace, Adire, or even tie and dye.
2. AGBADA BUBU STYLES:
You guys, remember when we talked about Yoruba fashion and mentioned the Agbada for men? Yeah, this style is what I like to call the Agbada gown. It is the female version of the agbada style but only in a gown form, which makes it a Bubu style. It can be designed with any fabric but I mostly prefer silk, like the picture in the middle.
3. Kimono Bubu styles:
I know it might seem like a shock, but it is surprisingly true for the Bubu style to be designed into a kimono gown. Using a fabric you desire, the ankle-length, loose-fitting kimono would definitely go best for any leisure event. This style is an open lightweight garment with flowy sleeves that are typically designed with a pattern on the material. I recommend this for beach parties (wink😉😏)
4. Kimono Bubu dress:
Yes, guys, once again I’m as shocked as you. The Bubu Kimono dress is very different from the Kimono gown, well, other than the similarity between, the dress and gown, the former, is a relatively knee-length, loose-fitting dress that can be designed with any fabric of choice.
5. Male Bubu styles:
The men’s version of Bubu is the most noted Agbada style. However, in modern today (lol), men have diversified the way they design their Bubu outfits, making them into either Kimono styles or a two-in-one combo.
There really isn’t much to say about Bubu Fashion and outfits but the style is simply beauty and perfection in comfort. Letting any woman or man of any size and figure, smoothly walk the runway of events or leisure, with no hindrances. You know, my favorite style is the kimono style, as it is the best outfit for the beach, don’t you think?
Anyway, please guys don’t forget to like, comment and share. I love you all.
