It is easy to do acrylic nail removal at home correctly; on the other hand, it is challenging to do it wrongly. Here are seven techniques on how to remove acrylic nails for those who hardly visit a salon or else have a meager income.

Acrylic Nails 1

  1. Gather Your Supplies

Before you start, ensure you have all the necessary supplies. You will need:

  • Acetone (pure acetone is most effective)
  • Cotton balls or pads
  • Aluminum foil
  • Nail clippers
  • Nail file and buffer
  • Cuticle pusher
  • Moisturizing lotion or oil

Having everything prepared will make the process smoother and more efficient.

Acrylic Nails 2

  1. Trim Your Nails

First, grab your acrylic nails with one hand, then using nail clippers cut them down to size. This will cut the amount of acrylic you cut since it will be faster and easier to accomplish. There is no filing at the cuticles and natural nails.

Acrylic Nails 3

  1. File the Surface

Take a coarse nail file now and very lightly file the outer layer of the acrylic nails. This is effective in opening the top coat’s seal to let the acetone get a better hold of the cover. File until the shine is removed, but do not file the natural nails.

  1. Soak in Acetone

Wipe the acetone on a cotton ball or pad and hold it on the nail. Take a small part of the aluminum foil, cover each nail, and ensure that you correctly placed the cotton ball in between. Let your nails be soaked for about half an hour. The acetone will help dissolve the acrylic, which can easily be wiped off the surface.

Acrylic Nails 4

  1. Check and Push Off Acrylic

Once the nails are soaked, you should choose one of them and try to see if the acrylic is already loosening up. You should use a cuticle pusher to try to remove the softened acrylic. The remaining acrylic should be removed with an acrylic file, exposing the nail bed. If the remaining acrylic cannot be removed, place a cotton ball with acetone on the nail and cover it with foil; soak for 10 minutes. Do the same for all the nails on the piece.

  1. Buff and Smooth

After the acrylic has been applied and the nails are stripped, clients may find their nails to be ridged or rough. You should then use a nail buffer to select the artificial nails & also smoothen the surface of natural nails. Buffing will be useful in eliminating acrylic residue and help regain a natural state on your nails.

Acrylic Nails 5

  1. Moisturize

Acetone can be particularly harsh on nails and skin, so it is recommended that you apply some lotion after the removal of nail polish. Massage the lotion or cuticle oil on your nails and hands, ensuring you apply enough. This also depends on the kind of hair. Therefore, delicate hands remove it without causing any harm. In any case, where you doubt or experience some form of challenge, it is advisable to go to a professional in nail art.
