Lady Gaga is best known for her most outrageous performances and unconventional songs and has turned out to be a fashion leader of this generation. In the many years she has remained in fashion, she has always amazed the world with what could be best described as grandiosely unique looks. Here’s a look at my top four most unforgettable Lady Gaga fashion moments
1. The Meat Dress:
It was a statement like no other in that it established the relationship between two partners based on a shared respect for the other’s enterprise.
An example of such a style icon, who took a daring approach and risked it all is Lady Gaga, where in the MTV Video Music Awards in the year 2010 she wore a dress made from raw meat. Met’s dress designed by Franc Fernandez drew attention to individuality and human rights issues, becoming a topic of discussion across the globe. Even though shocking this look is one of the most recognizable in the history of fashion and it proves that Gaga always wants to cross the line and make a statement through her clothing.
2. The 2019 Met Gala:
It is an entrance that can be often found in theatre buildings or other related constructions such as theatres.
The last year’s Met Gala became historic for Lady Gaga who changed her clothing four times on the pink carpet alone. In the very beginning, she wore a large fuchsia dress by Brandon Maxwell and during the performance, she removed it and changed into a black strapless gown and then into a hot pink slip dress and the final look was a sparkly lingerie set. The elaborate performance was a perfect embodiment of the night’s theme, “Camp: In “Gentlemen’s Guide to Style feat. Lady Gaga: Part 2 – Notes on Fashion,” the accent was put on drama and changeability of Gaga. It took a moment to pronounce this, but it was quite symbolic: this moment cemented her status as the fashion theatrics master.
3. The Born This Way Ball: Alien Chic A Startup Survival Guide for the 21st Century
During the Born This Way Ball tour, Lady Gaga had extraterrestrial style references and she looked like an alien most of the time. A look that many remember from this period was a custom-made black latex bodysuit with very wide shoulders and she wore spike-like headpieces. The understated black, white, and red outfit designed by the late Mugler for the man could not have been more fitting for this tour which was a symbol of freedom and rebellion. Lady Gaga was wearing quite an extravagant outfit which can be seen as a futuristic look of an alien; it all looked very bold and it underlined the fact that Gaga is an avant-garde pop star.
4. The Star-Spangled Super Bowl: Patriotic Stylish
As it was clear at the Super Bowl LI halftime show in 2017, Lady Gaga proved that she is an outstanding vocalist as much as she bashes fashion trends. She started the show with a customized Atelier Versace outfit that included a silver bodysuit that had sculpted shoulders which she wore knee-high boots to match. The patriotic look as well as the glittering stars were a tribute to her love for her country, America, and daring fetish for glamorous apparel. It not only added to her energetic performance but was also proof of how she is an established fashion muse who knows how to make a spectacle on stage.
In this case, one can give credit to Lady Gaga she has taken fashion to the next level not only taking risks but also going out of the norm. During the meat dress that was so scandalous if only for the fact that it was made out of raw meat, to her performances at the Met Gala, Gaga has always reinvented the fashionista concept. That is why she is one of the key influential people in the industry who can combine art, performance, and fashion into memorable moments. While the ‘ere and avant-garde makeup looks are quite associated with Lady Gaga today, it was quite shocking in that time which makes her a visionary and truly ahead of her time.
