In Barbieland, as depicted in the Greta Gerwig film “Every Night Is Girls’ Night,” Canada is sort of following suit this autumn. In honor of Barbie’s 65th anniversary, the company is reimagining six classic Barbies from the past in collaboration with five Canadian Fashion brands started by women.
Expect cat-eye sunglasses, mod black eyeliner, ’70s sequins, and oh-so-much pink thanks to the broad cooperation featuring an all-star lineup of Hilary MacMillan, Cheekbone Beauty, Paris Jewellers, AI Toronto Seoul, and Sol Kyst Eyewear. On August 15 at 11 a.m. EST, all brands will launch simultaneously on their individual websites, so be sure to mark that date. —Using files provided by Annika Lautens
Stella McCartney marks the 10th anniversary of its Elyse platform shoe with a capsule collection
How can a symbol be reimagined? Naturally, with an entertaining capsule selection! This year marks the tenth anniversary of Stella McCartney’s Elyse platform shoe (they grow up so fast!). To celebrate, the British fashion brand, which is renowned for creating conscious luxury, has released a limited-edition capsule collection of monochromatic styles. These styles are available in tone-on-tone black, red, white, and lead-free crystal on all sides.
Stella McCartney photographed their newest ad in London’s Kew Gardens in conjunction with British artist Marc Quinn’s “Light to Life” show in honour of Elyse’s big birthday. Quinn’s work, according to the company, is a “sculptural celebration of sunlight and plants as the roots of life on Earth,” as stated in a press release.

Marimekko denim has arrived Canadian Fashion brands
The first-ever denim line from Finnish brand Marimekko, called Marimekko Maridenim, was just released. The jean capsule, which comes with three fits and five washes, is meant to be classic and adaptable. It goes without saying that it goes well with the brand’s signature patterns and can be dressed up or down.
The denim collection was created in accordance with The Jeans Redesign guidelines by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, which establish industry standards for ethical denim manufacture, as part of the brand’s commitment to sustainability. To maximise recyclability, each pair of jeans is created with 100% mono-material, no-stretch cotton (80% organic, 20% recycled), minimum hardware, and detachable buttons and rivets. Act and look well!
