Uzma Ameer (30.09.1994)
In an era like today, who doesn’t want to be a designer? I love designing clothes. I have this crazy skill from my childhood, making dresses for my dolls, for newborns, for myself, and my sisters. My name is Uzma Ameer and my mother is my inspiration. I gradually learned everything from her, including how to be creative in this field. Fashion designing is not only my passion but it was my dream as my father always used to see me as a designer. Because of his firm belief in me, my interest in this fashion field is growing day by day. I started designing for myself in 2006. Where people used to buy readymade clothes, I was more fascinated by my own creation.Â
I started going to fashion school in, 2015 and completed my Fashion degree, BFD-(Hons), in 2021. The journey I started it wasn’t easy for me. After the death of my father, I thought it was going to end soon but I decided to continue this path with the help and support of my family. Especially, my brother who has been a great support throughout this journey. I have faced several challenges on my way, but each one of them has only strengthened me to make me the person I am today; who knows exactly what she wants; someone who sets her eyes on a goal and does not lose sight of it, unless it is achieved.
I got LUX Style Scholarship Awards 2019. Winning that award would not have been possible without the inspiration I have received from Ami Baba, my AIFD teacher for whom I have the deepest respect, and from whom I have derived the strength to challenge myself and perform better at each stage. I am truly obliged for that great honor and recognition given by the lux Style.
In a strange new world yet I gave my best and worked extremely hard to achieve my goal. You must have heard this for ages “no pain no gain” it conveys the message that we can never succeed without trying and facing the difficulties of life. Those 5 years have been an unforgettable journey at AIFD, I not only have shaped my future but also strengthened my design aesthetic. I am more passionate about my profession than ever.Â
It’s a bittersweet end, however, due to the rise in covid cases we were unable to display the collection we spent almost a year creating, it’s something I always wanted to do nevertheless, after many hurdles, I have finally graduated and that’s all that matters. I have faced numerous challenges on our way, but each one of them has only strengthened me to become a better person. I want to thank my mom who has been a great support throughout this journey, particularly, towards the end when I needed her the most. It would not have been possible without the support of my family, my friends, and my teachers who always guided me and inspired me to achieve my goal. A special thanks to my collection teachers ma’am Nabiha and Sir saad from whom I have derived the strength to challenge myself and perform better at each stage. Thank you all for your support and belief in me.Â
