Because it’s the simplest and best place to start for eyeliner newbies. Pencils go on smoothly and are more forgiving of shaky hands than liquid or gel.
For beginners, an eyeliner pencil is an easiest and most fail-proof eyeliner to use. Simply hold it like a regular pencil and draw along your lash line. If you’re feeling brave and want to try your hand at liquid liner, I say go for it! However, use a thin liquid eyeliner pen or simply line use a pencil liner first and then layer the liquid eyeliner on top. Make sure you have Q-tips and makeup remover available in case you make any mistakes.

Line the upper lash line. Follow your natural eye shape with the eyeliner moving to the edge of the eye.
A single line on the upper eyelid thickens gradually to the outside corner of the eyes and ends with a tip. It remembers the form of a cat-eye.
