Hi, this is Nishat, I am a blogger with many tastes and this is my first fashion blog.

Whenever we go to a party or meeting some international delegates or any special occasion, Jamdani had always been the first choice for any Bangladeshi woman. It is always the best choice for any woman let it be our Honorable Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, or the actress who walked the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival 2021– Azmeari Haque Badhon

Origin of Jamdani

Jamdani was originally known as Dhakai named after the city of Dhaka, one of many ancient textile weaving centers in the Bengal region. Under the Mughal Empire, the Persian term Jamdani came to be in popular use, since it was the court language of the Mughals. Jamdanis are popularly known as Dhakai Jamdani or simply Dhakai.

Materials to make Jamdani

Jamdani is a weaving technique of figured cotton textiles, in the transparent plain ground, with designs of the extra weft. Design motifs are directly woven by weavers from their memory without the help of any design device.

Jamdani is a handloom woven fabric made of cotton, which was historically referred to as muslin. The Jamdani weaving tradition is of Bengali origin.

Types of Jamdani

• Dhakai Jamdani (Bangladesh)

Gold Wedding Band Rings

• Tangail Jamdani (Bangladesh)

• Shantipur Jamdani (India)

• Dhaniakhali Jamdani (India)

• Begumpur Jamdani.

Why is it so expensive?

Jamdani is expensive since it requires dedicated work and special skills,” Hossain says, flicking a bejeweled hand over the peacock feather motif that the young woman works on. “My weavers don’t use patterns; they create only from memory.”
