Sabrina Carpenter Takes the 2026 Met Gala by Storm with Three Epic Vintage Outfit Changes!

Sabrina Carpenter, a 26-year-old singer-songwriter and actress, made a fashion statement and impressed everyone at the 2026 Met Gala with her nostalgic outfit changes from the red carpet to the stage.

On Monday, May 4, 2026, Sabrina Carpenter was spotted arriving at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the 2026 Met Gala, hosted by Anna Wintour, Vogue’s global editorial director, together with co-chairs tennis icon Venus Williams, singer Beyoncé, and actress Nicole Kidman.

The “Please Please Please” singer returned for the fourth time to this year’s Met Gala, themed “Costume Art” with the dress code “Fashion is Art,” looking as elegant as ever. Carpenter dazzled the crowd on fashion’s biggest night by showcasing three exquisite vintage-inspired looks—from the red carpet, where she posed proudly in Dior, to the stage, where she performed in recreated 1990s gowns by Bob Mackie and Gianni Versace. Read on to see all three ensembles, and check out Fashonation Bellah Kwamy for more red-carpet looks from the event.

Look 1: Dior Delights Inspired by Audrey Hepburn

Sabrina Carpenter, a Versace ambassador, was first photographed at the 2026 Met Gala: Costume Art, strolling on the red carpet and looking absolutely stunning.

Sabrina Carpenter wore a black Dior mock-neck dress covered in photographic film strips accented with rhinestones. Designed by creative director Jonathan Anderson and inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s iconic look in the 1954 classic film “Sabrina,” the dress featured a halterneck top with a close-fitting bodice, an open back, and rhinestone chains secured at the back and draped to her hands.

The ensemble was completed with a flowing maxi tulle skirt, layered with translucent film-strip panels that formed a peplum effect. Additional rhinestone chains cascaded down the design, complemented by a knotted bow and a hip-side split that highlighted her silhouette.

Sabrina Carpenter also wore a custom Dior headpiece featuring the film title “Sabrina” at the center, with diamond accents.

The “Espresso” hitmaker completed her red-carpet ensemble with black patent leather Christian Louboutin “Daffodile” pumps, set on towering 160 mm heels.

Look 2: A Nod to Versace and Glamour

Following that, Sabrina Carpenter returned to the spotlight at the 2026 Met Gala, this time taking the stage alongside 77-year-old singer-songwriter Stevie Nicks, where she debuted two vintage gowns.

Sabrina Carpenter first caught attention in a vibrant, sleeveless sheath dress originally worn by British supermodel Naomi Campbell on the runway for the Gianni Versace Spring/Summer 1991 collection. The look featured bold, eye-catching patterns of iconic faces, including Marilyn Monroe and James Dean.

The dress also boasted a sharply tailored top with embroidered bra cups and a flowing maxi skirt that hugged her curves while revealing a daring back slit.

Carpenter finished the vintage ensemble with custom Christian Louboutin “Pumppie Wallis” Mary Jane gold pumps, embellished with sequins that added an extra flash of sparkle to her performance.

Look 3: Bob Mackie’s Golden Glamour

Sabrina Carpenter kept up her onstage momentum at the 2026 Met Gala, turning heads in vintage-inspired looks. She was spotted making her second performance appearance in a gold sequin gown—originally designed by fashion designer Bob Mackie in 1989 and drawn from singer and actress Mitzi Gaynor’s signature style of that era.

The gown was embellished with shimmering fringes that danced as she moved on stage during her performance, as well as a short-sleeved top with shoulder cuts and a dramatic flowing maxi skirt with several slits. Sabrina Carpenter finished her second stage outfit in the same Christian Louboutin Pumppie Wallis Mary Jane sequin pumps and her signature Maison Raksha diamond initial ring.
