The Olympic Games serve as a platform for honouring the dedication and hard work of athletes worldwide. However, that does not imply that they are limited to their technical abilities. The Olympics can be compared to an extended fashion week, as participants and onlookers alike use the occasion to reflect who they are by their choices in attire and cosmetics.
When you consider the long-standing influence of fashion on sports, the Olympic style moments don’t come as a big surprise. Furthermore, it makes obvious that participants would want to mirror the enthusiasm of the city, since the Summer 2024 games are presently taking place in Paris, the epicentre of fashion.
Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart’s matching equestrian moment
Even though he isn’t competing, Snoop Dogg has established himself at these games almost as much as icons like Simone Biles. The rapper, who is currently in Paris on assignment for NBC, has been making appearances everywhere. He has been seen wearing a flashy outfit, carrying a torch, and offering commentary on sports like badminton. But his most recent “fit” is unmatched.
Wearing full equestrian costumes (with a helmet!), Snoop and best friend Martha Stewart attended the Equestrian Team Dressage final at Versailles on August 3. Along with the Olympics, the friends were also commemorating Stewart’s 83rd birthday. Talk about taking risks.
Simone Biles’ GOAT necklace
This year’s competition was dominated by the U.S. gymnastics squad, as seen on TikTok and in the games. Athletes Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, Jade Carey, and Hezly Rivera together won ten gold. Biles, who is competing in her third Olympics, is aware that she is her sport’s Greatest Of All Time (GOAT). That’s why her newest piece of jewellery makes perfect sense.
Wearing a 3-D goat pendant adorned with diamonds, Biles rejoiced on the podium after winning the gold medal in the women’s gymnastics all-around final. Biles herself came up with the concept for the necklace, which was created by California jeweller Janet Heller Fine Jewelery. “My ultimate jewellery is essentially an ode.
Kendall Jenner’s patriotic ‘fit
Despite having Olympic brilliance in her DNA, Kendall Jenner may not be competing in the games, but she took her patriotism and attendance at the Paris 2024 Olympics seriously. The model and creator of 818 made an appearance at the women’s all-around gymnastics finals on August 1st, sporting a similar baseball cap and a Ralph Lauren zip-up with an Olympic team motif (the jacket will be worn by American flag bearers during the game’s closing ceremony). Jenner’s off-duty attire, which she paired with stylish black loafers and a cropped white tee, was inspiring for what to wear to our next athletic event and giving athletes a new look.
Jordan Chiles’ Beyoncé-inspired grills
Athlete Jordan Chiles of the United States accepted a gold medal on July 30 with her teammates while donning some quite fashionable jewellery. In contrast to her teammate Biles, the gymnast opted to wear diamond-encrusted grills instead of a necklace. Made in Houston, Texas, Chiles told GQ that the images from Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter album served as inspiration for her bottom grill, which is a gold and diamond bar.
“I was thinking, ‘I’m going to have them with me, I’m probably going to go do stuff in Paris, so it was more of a fashion statement for me.
Lady Gaga’s opening ceremony look
Every performance by Lady Gaga is extravagant, and we wouldn’t have anticipated anything less from the Olympics. The singer said that her rendition of the well-known French song “Mon Truc en Plume,” which she sang during the Olympic opening ceremony, was modelled after the French Cabaret.
As Mother Monster walked the stage wearing a couture Dior feathered gown, she looked unwaveringly magnificent, despite the sound problems on the Seine river bank set itself. Notably, Céline Dion, the living icon, also graced the Olympic opening ceremony stage wearing a couture Dior outfit.
South Korean sharpshooter Kim Ye-ji’s whole aura
You are most certainly not alone if, prior to the start of these Olympics, you had no idea what the heck sharpshooting was. However, it’s likely that you are now fully aware of it, or at least fully aware of South Korean marksman Kim Ye-ji. Following a women’s 10-meter air pistol competition on July 27, the Korean athlete went viral. It was more about her attitude during the competition than her silver medal-placing shot, though it was still fairly awesome. In essence, she exudes coolness. Thanks to her laid-back demeanour, retro glasses, and backwards cap, Olympian Ye-ji sparked a conversation on social media: “Is this the hottest and coolest anyone has ever looked in history?” Yes, of course, is the answer.
