Hey Fashion-Royals… Question; Who doesn’t like anything royal? I literarily sat down last week Wednesday and binged watched any royal family movie I could find; and its inspiration even led me to think of writing a new book on royals, not like the werewolf one, but more common, more leveled, and with so much twist but my search in using the real royal family member has come to nil, as all the young male royals are below 19 (bummer, lol). Anyways, The royal family of Great Britain has been an inspiration to many people and me as well, I just wanna take a page out of my blog to write something cool about them, and what is cooler, than talking about diamonds, silver, rubies, you name it kinda tiaras?
So, I wanted to go ancient and just you know, show us some of the most Iconic tiara moments passed down from generation. Here are some of them:
1. THE RUSSIAN FRINGE TIARA
This Russian Fringe tiara is known as one of the oldest tiaras in the royal family jewelry line. It was made of diamonds set in gold and silver by E. Wolff and Co. for Garrard in 1919. However, the diamonds were a part of a necklace gift given to Queen Mary as a wedding gift in 1893 by her mother Queen Victoria. The tiara is sometimes mistaken as that of Queen Adelaide, but trust me, they are different as Queen Mary’s Russian Fringe Tiara is known to be a smaller, newer, neater version of Queen Adelaide’s tiara.
The tiara was originally owned by Queen Mary, who passed it down to her daughter-in-law, Queen Elizabeth I (also known as Queen mother). Queen Elizabeth I, then passed it down to her daughter, Queen Elizabeth II, who wore it on her wedding day in 1947.
Queen Elizabeth II, then loaned the tiara to her daughter, Princess Anne, who also wore it on her wedding day, and princess Beatrice who also, wore it on her wedding day.
2. THE CARTIER HALO TIARA
The Cartier Halo tiara also known as ‘The Diamond Halo Tiara’ is made as a band of 16 graduated scrolls, set with 739 brilliants and 149 baton diamonds, each scroll divided by a graduated brilliant and with a large brilliant at the center, and was made by the celebrated French Jewelry House of Cartier.
The famous Halo Tiara is also one of the oldest passed down tiaras that was originally worn by Queen Mother Elizabeth I, as a wedding anniversary gift from her husband, King George VI. Then passed down to Queen Elizabeth II, who never publicly wore it, but instead loaned it to her sister, Princess Margaret. The Queen later passed it down as a loan to her only daughter Princess Anne, who wore it on several occasions before it was loaned once again to the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton who wore it on her wedding day.
3. THE DIAMOND BANDEAU TIARA
 This Bandeau Tiara made by Garrad is formed as a flexible band of eleven sections, pavé set with large and small brilliant diamonds in a geometric design with the Sapphire Brooch of Lincoln as a detachable piece. However, the sapphire Brooch has since been changed to a Diamond.
This famous piece of arty Tiara was said to be made from the ‘Country of Lincoln Brooch’ which was a wedding gift from the people of Lincoln to Queen Mary. Queen Mary then, assigned the jeweler Garrad to make it into a tiara in 1925. The Tiara was then passed down to Queen Elizabeth I and II but instead worn by Princess Margaret on several occasions before it was loaned to the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle for her wedding with Prince Harry.
4. THE MEANDER DIAMOND TIARA
This Iconic MEANDER DIAMOND TIARAÂ was also known as the Greek Key Tiara. The tiara is made of diamonds, and the Greek key design is punctuated by a central laurel wreath element and two honeysuckle elements. The tiara is rumored to have been made by Cartier in the early 1900s.Â
The Meander tiara was initially owned by Princess Alice Andrew of Greece and Denmark before she passed it down to her daughter-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II as a wedding gift to her son, Prince Philip. Queen Elizabeth, who didn’t publicly wear it, then passed it down to her daughter, Princess Anne before it was passed to her daughter, Princess Zara Tindler.
5. THE LOTUS FLOWER TIARA
This lovely LOTUS FLOWER TIARA was made from the dismantled necklace which was made of diamonds and pearls and featured meander and festoon designs, made by Garrard for Queen Mother Elizabeth I. The dismantled necklace was a wedding gift from the Queen Mother’s husband, King George VI.
The Tiara which was first worn by the Queen Mother was passed down to her second daughter and Queen Elizabeth II’s sister, Princess Margaret, for her wedding to the Earl of Snowdon. The tiara was later loaned to Princess Margaret’s daughter-in-law, Serena Armstrong-Jones, Countess of Snowdon on her wedding day, by Queen Elizabeth after her sister, Princess Margaret died.
All these Royal family trees are so long, so vast and so brainy that I’m getting pretty steamed up and tired (lol). But who doesn’t love all these beautiful tiaras? I mean c’mon, one of them has got to stick out to you. My favorite is the ‘Diamon Bandeau Tiara and the Lotus Flower Tiara‘. What’s yours?Â
