They’re not understated – they’re supposed to be.
The first thing you see is them from a distance. High and proud, taking no offense, standing out. All the other pieces in the ensemble are light and casual, but the shoes have weight, both in terms of the weight of the shoes and the weight the shoes have on the ensemble. At first, it seems that they shouldn’t work. Then, miraculously, they do.
That’s the unexpected trend for 2026 when it comes to shoes.
Fashion was, at one time, minimalist. Leading-to-nothing straps, little-to-no noise in the fashion, and shoes that melted into the ensemble. Trends seem not to stand still for long. Well, it’s come full circle, but not as you might think. The new platform is not one for excess, simply for it. It’s about balance.

Oh, and there’s comfort, which was not something that platforms could be counted on for.
It will be a part of the design in 2026. They are evenly distributed in height, so they will be easier to walk in than traditional heels. Many styles feature slight anatomical shaping to give support to the foot, which feels good and stable, without being awkward. You’re up high, but down low!
It’s when it comes to styling them that things get interesting.
The platform can either enhance or contrast with the style of the outfit, depending on how you style it. However, their strongest suits are in the simpler designs. A minimal dress, a clean set, and even denim and a fitted top—plus a chunky sandal and the outfit has direction.
There is no need to supplement in addition to that.

Structured bags are suitable as long as they have a structure similar to the shoe, particularly when it echoes the solidity of the shoe.
