Hello, beautiful people of the fashion world! Who missed me? Honestly, I missed myself too. Now, I had been thinking a lot about what I would write once I found the time, and the word “vintage” kept coming to me. I served as an usher in my college fellowship, and the uniforms and colors they pick every Sunday have opened my eyes to the system of outfits. Lol, I sound evolved (laughs). Anyway, we will discuss how a lady and a guy can style vintage scarves for different occasions. Is your mouth watering? Follow me to unravel the system of vintage scarves, a symbol of elegance.
Vintage scarves?
Hold on, did I tell you guys I am about to graduate from college? (Squeals.) You can’t imagine the happiness that flows through my veins (laughs). So, when I was an executive in my college fellowship, I served as the assistant head usher, and let me tell you, I knew nothing about being an usher, but what I did know (at least a bit, he he) was how to style different dresses.
On many occasions, my ushers and I had to wear outfits and compliment them with these timeless scarves. One Sunday, we decided the ladies should wear black dresses and black hats and style them with any color scarf as long as they were vintage. While the guys wear black pants and black shirts and pair them with the same scarves around their necks, let me just tell you, guys, it was radiating vibes. It gave elegance and class. I had many people tell me “Mama, your ushers look so good today”.
These scarves are more than just pieces of fabric; they are symbols of a bygone era’s elegance and grace. Whether you’re dressing up for a special occasion or simply enhancing your daily ensemble, they are your ticket to timeless style. And do you know the best thing about these scarves? They can be styled in more ways than one. That’s right! It ain’t just for head scarves alone, ya’know (laughs).
How to style vintage scarves for ladies…
When it comes to fashion accessories that stand the test of time and ooze elegance, vintage scarves undoubtedly take center stage. These versatile pieces of fabric not only serve as a functional accessory to keep you warm but also elevate your style to a whole new level. You can buy them from various sources, including vintage shops, thrift stores, online stores like Amazon, eBay, Jumia, and so on, and even from family members (you know, all these heirloom items?). Yep). I don’t think I had ever owned anything vintage until my final year in school because, well, it was necessary.
Anyway, as a lady, I thrive on looking elegant, and for any occasion, let’s see how we can achieve that with this scarf.
1. Ties on the hair
Let’s start with the most common one, which is a hair scarf. Many ladies, including me, use these scarves for various purposes, and one of them is using them as a hair tie, which daily symbolizes elegance. Whether you have long hair or short hair, or maybe even bald (super serious). You can choose to tie it to your hair any way you want. I personally like to tie mine, like in the fourth image. What is your style? Okay, I gotta say this: the third image be giving artist vibes (lol).
2. Draped around the neck
Can you guys remember when I said my ushers and I wore black dresses with scarves? Well, what I didn’t tell you was the way we styled it. We draped it around our necks, tying it in different ways. Vintage scarves represent a time when people cared about the little fashion details and loved styles that never go out of fashion. They give off a feeling of elegance and charm that lasts beyond current trends. Draping the scarves around the neck adds elegance to your casual, office, nature-wise, and daily look. I personally like the 7th image, and maybe I’ll get to use it for my final defense.

3. On the wrist
Wearing or tying a vintage scarf on your wrist doesn’t make you look weird; on the contrary, it adds class to whatever outfit you choose.

4. Used as a belt
There is this lady in my fellowship who just knows how to style vintage scarves. For instance, one of her recent styles is using it as a belt, and she did it in different ways. To begin with, the first one, and probably my favorite, was when she draped it on one shoulder, let it fall backward and forward, and then used her dress belt to hold it firm. Additionally, she would wear an armless blazer and use the scarf as a belt around it. Moreover, you can use it on trousers, gowns, suits, and many more. Nevertheless, I think I’d stick to the lady’s one-shoulder belt style.
5. Used as an accessory
One of my favorite ways to style vintage scarves is to use them as a bag accessory. It makes it look so timeless and chic especially when I take a portable bag out for events. People keep asking me where I bought the bag, but I just laugh it out and tell them the trick. Oh, and I learned it from the same lady in my fellowship (lol, she has become my vintage role model). I’m telling you that it makes you look so classy and elegant that guys won’t know what hit them (wink). Here are a few ideas;
6. Used as a top.
I know that many of you ladies are modern so, the same way we can style corsets in and on our outfits is the same way we can style these scarves. It gives a simple yet sophisticated vibe and even though it’s not my favorite thing to do because Nigeria is so hot right now, who says y’all can’t? Vintage scarves allow you to accessorize your outfits in a way that’s uniquely you. They can be the finishing touch to your daily attire, or they can be the statement piece that steals the show.
Vintage scarf styles for men
Now, guys are probably the simplest people to style these timeless scarves on. There are various ways to use it, including using it as a muffler, a neckerchief, a tie, or simply as casual neck drapes. Who says a guy can’t look elegant? Furthermore, vintage scarves have been gracing the fashion world for decades, and their allure has only grown with time. Whether you’re a fashion connoisseur or just dipping your toes into the world of style, vintage scarves can be your gateway to timeless elegance.
In the realm of timeless and elegant fashion accessories, vintage scarves truly shine. These adaptable pieces of fabric do more than just keep you warm; they elevate your style to new heights. So, make the most of their versatility, understand their rich history, and make vintage scarves a key part of your fashion adventure. In a world where fashion trends constantly change, vintage scarves stay forever stylish.
