Hello fashionistas! It’s been a minute. How have y’all been doing? Summer is finally here, but it seems Nigeria didn’t get the memo as it has been raining non-stop for almost two weeks now. However, I am here for my workaholics. One thing I love to do when I’m going to work is dress well and look good. This is why today we’ll discuss the Top 6 Summer Work Outfits for 2024.

I’m not a workaholic but when I do have to go to everyday work (lol), I love to look good. Even at my workplace, I’d have to remove my accessories before entering the factory. Still, I try to make an effort to look stylish yet comfortable. Now, that is just on a regular cool day but when it comes to heat, oh my, then my wardrobe sometimes seems foreign to me.

Honestly, one thing I find very annoying is trying to style outfits that would make me comfortable in the heat. If you are a frequent reader of my blog, you’ll know Nigeria’s heat hits differently. I’m not even joking. It’s as if the sun is getting back to you for something you did to it (lol). So, I’d have to rummage through my closet for the new summer dresses I bought and look for my hidden sleeveless tops and simple jeans. It’s quite a challenge when you’ve stocked all these layered clothes only to go for sleeveless, lightweight outfits.

Now that summer is here, the challenge of dressing stylishly yet comfortably for work in the heat is on everyone’s mind. Here’s a guide to help you look professional while staying cool. It is quite hard to choose summer work outfits in Nigeria because you never know when the rain would fall and everywhere becomes cold or sometimes, hotter.

1. Light Fabrics

Linen and Cotton: when it comes to summer work outfits opt for breathable fabrics like linen and cotton. These materials allow air to circulate, keeping you cool throughout the day. I can’t count how many times these fabrics have saved me from the heatwave. They can be tops, dresses, or even long-sleeves. The fact that they are light fabrics gives you the room to still look professional at work.

Chambray: A lightweight alternative to denim, Chambray offers a polished look without the heat of heavier fabrics. They could be sewn into trousers for that casual Thursday look paired with a linen white shirt.

Soft Neutrals: Cream, beige, and light grey can create a sophisticated palette that’s perfect for the office. There are people who say that these colors are very dull but I don’t agree. Yeah, they aren’t sharp but that doesn’t mean they are not perfect for some occasions, in this case work. Although, since it’s summer, we can spice things up with the trending colors of the season.

For example, pairing oversized sunglasses with studs over your summer dress and your good to go to work because at least you wouldn’t wear the glasses at work, would ya? I like packing my hair into a bun, putting on normal studs and a simple neck chain so I don’t have to touch my body a lot of times to get that earring out of my hair.

With the heat going around, you don’t need a big bag that would make you feel irritated. Go for simple structured bags. They may look big but they are lighter compared to backpacks.
